Saved by the bell

Whenever my teachers talk about being in college next year they say how only the freshman get dressed to go to class and all of the upper class men just think that it's silly. I am a firm believer in always trying to look your best because when you look your best you tend to feel your best. I decided that I would do a "lounging around/going to class" sort of look and then a casual college party look. With both of these looks I was sure to use flats and clothing that wouldn't be too restricting or make you look like you're trying too hard because it's not cute to be the girl stumbling around drunk in her heels or looking way too over done.

mint green H&M canvas shoes / Wild Fox Couture skinny cross shirt / Missoni wave criss-cross cardigan / Bank Fashion floral leggings / John Lewis head over heels clutch

I love pairing loose and light fitting clothing with tight bottoms, it just looks so effortlessly cute. I also love mixing a dramatic pattern with a small detail. Obviously you would also need to carry your books, a laptop, and whatever else is required for your class but you've always got your clutch for you phone, keys, and pencils!

Matt Bernson waverly flats / Chelsey Singlet tank / Rosebud menthol mint chap stick / True Religion stella skinny jeans / Oasis mini satchel / Madwell top note cardigan

This look is for a casual party where you're trying to make new friends and possibly catch the attention of a cute guy. I always find a cute pair of ballet flats to be perfect for occasions where you aren't really sure what will be happening and you aren't trying to look tough with a pair of boots. The shirt (depending on what size you purchased) could possibly show a little mid-drift and the cardigan is for in case it's too cold for that. Wearing this with a goldish white and brown eye shadow would make you pop out without standing out too much.

Hope you enjoyed these looks! xo

I've got flowers on my dress and dreams in my head.

You know one of those days when it's pretty chilly out but the sun is out so you feel like it should be ridiculously warm? But THEN you remember that it's the winter and your world turns upside down? Yeah, that was this day.

These shots were taken in the warehouse district of Minneapolis by my friend and photographer, David Mendolia.

In this look I took a simple floral dress that my mom got me as a going back to school gift, layered it with a thick green sweater for the chilly-ness and made it a little more "hard" by wearing faux dr. martens, leggings, and thick socks.

I put on my finest threads and wrap up my body tight.

I was thinking about all the things that I could write this post about, all the occasions that people dress themselves up for. Finally I decided that I'd do concerts because those are some of my favorite things to go to and do (besides shopping, of course). So here it is, I made two different sets of looks because there's all different kinds of concerts you could go to and it varies for each of them.

Rebecca Minkoff mini savannah hobo / H&M &Sqin ripped skinnes / Valerija earrings /

OPI Nail Varnish - Are We There Yet? / INSHALLA beaded moccasins / Modcloth Love Is In The Era top

For this occasion I thought that all of the items seemed easy to wear, light weight so you wouldn't get too warm if the venue was packed, and still very stylish and cute. It takes a little bit of the native look, the indie hipster look, and makes it super cute.

Axparis rose & skull tank / Madwell Gold Rush jean jacket / Lancome light pink cosmetics / Karl sequined leggings / Steve Madden Troopa boots / TOMS black canvas / Oasis vintage look mini purse

With this look I wanted to take the idea and make it really fun so people would look at you in the crowd and think "which band is she in?" or "which one of the members is she dating?".  I included both TOMS and the leather boots for versatility because of the different weather, how crowded the place is, and just personal preference.

For these looks I was seriously inspired by two different songs/music videos so here they are:

Mixing a little bit of everything; welcome to the melting pot of style.

So on Saturday morning at 10 AM me and my friends headed over to another friend and photographers house named David Mendolia, from there we set out for the warehouse district of Minneapolis.

Anyone that knows me even the slightest bit or has me added on a social networking site knows that I'm obsessed with tacky animal t-shirts. It doesn't matter if it says it's a 5XL on the tag, I will make it fit somehow.

The shoes may look familiar to some of you (not from old looks) but because they resemble a very popular boot that a lot of people own; Dr. Martens. However, they are not. They are faux from Walmart that I actually found at one of my local thrift stores. Some people believe they're too high and mighty to own faux clothing articles. For me, yes i'd love to have the real thing of everything (although i don't even wear brand names all that often) but that's simply impossible. Why should it really matter whether they're real or fake? They're cute either way!

In this shoot i wore:
black wool leggings / The Mountain horse shirt DIY ripped & destroyed / thick gray socks / No Boundaries faux Dr. Martens / JOUJOU brown faux fur vest / Urban Expressions dark brown purse / DIY human tooth necklace / Macys peace sign rosary

I hope you enjoyed this look! xo

Thinking of the times to come...

So this is a bit of an "I wish" style blog because it's about the summer which seems like it's so far away but I'm really excited about this super cheap OP swimsuit that I found and maybe someone looking at this is enjoying warmer weather than I am.

Stella McCartney sunglasses / OP tie-dye swimsuit top / mint metallic TOMS / Suede tie flappy hat / Vintage cut-off shorts / Agent Ninetynine cropped tank top / DANNIJO brass bracelets

This outfit would be so cute for a day at the beach with your friends or even just a really warm day of shopping. I love the way that the swim-suit top has so many bright colors but it isn't too childish. Then the accessories make it seem more grown up and wearable.

Happy Thursday! xo

You bring out the colors in my cheeks.

So tomorrow is Valentines Day and although I'd like to say that I don't care about it at all that isn't entirely true. I don't care a whole lot, but it'd still be nice to have someone to dress up for I guess.
I thought of cute dates you could go on for Valentines Day or just any time in the winter really, especially things like ice skating.

this includes: Christian Louboutin fall shoe collection / Barbour classic duffle coat / Lancome red lipstick / Rochas sweater / Mango taxi bag / Helmut Lang leather skinny jeans

Since a lot of these things are ridiculous expensive, if the price is listed at all O decided to make a cheaper version of this outfit. It's nice to have lots of solid color and then pops of other because it really makes you grab peoples attention using simple every day articles of clothing and not being too out there.

Merona water repellent coat / Revlon color burst lip stick / Forever 21 structured cross body / faux leather leggings / Miss Me juno red oxfords

Hope you enjoy this! xo

i guess you'd say it's a modern day hippie sort of thing...

So this is just a selfie in case you guys are wondering what I look like and so you can see the way I styled my dreads & did my make-up!

This is the outfit that I wore today on a casual Saturday where I went to the mall on a sort of date thing, had a celebratory dinner for my grades, and went to go hangout with some friends.
Although some people may call this outfit simple I believe that it's made by all the simple details that I've included that help one another out. (I do this often)

The outfit included: American Apparel black leggings / Doe moonchylde top / wool socks / Minnetonka Moccasin light brown winter time tramper boots / silver and blue satchel necklace / tan mala / my usual rings from everywhere

The reason that I chose this as a title is because yesterday I was called a "modern day hippie" twice in the time span of probably two hours. Although I don't like to label myself and I certainly wouldn't call myself a hippie I enjoy the style that a lot of "hippies" had, and so I take that as a large compliment. When I purchased this shirt all I could think of was how beautiful the term "moon child" is, and how I couldn't wait to wear it with tons of accessories that would make all the colors pop out and i do believe i was quite successful! xo
